ISO/IEC 17025
Testing Laboratory Accreditation
Accreditation of testing laboratories under ISO 17025.

ISO/IEC 17025 sets out the general requirements for the competence, impartiality and consistent operation of laboratories. A laboratory accredited to it has shown that it can produce technically valid results for the tests or calibrations listed in its scope.
ANAP accredits testing laboratories against this standard. The assessment looks at both the management system and the technical work itself: the people, equipment, methods, environment and the way results are reported.

Frequently asked questions
What does the accreditation scope mean?+
The scope lists the tests, methods, materials and ranges the laboratory is accredited for. Results outside the scope are not covered by the accreditation.
Is ISO/IEC 17025 the same as ISO 9001?+
No. ISO 9001 covers a general quality management system. ISO/IEC 17025 also covers technical competence, such as method validation, measurement uncertainty and traceability.
Does this cover medical laboratories?+
Medical laboratories are assessed against ISO 15189, which is part of the ANAP accreditation services.
